The planning has Started

The Covid 🦠 restrictions which we have lived with for months are being relaxed. There are still do’s and don’t but one of the Do’s is that camping in motorhomes and caravans is now allowed.

We thought that everywhere would be rammed solid as foreign holiday travel is still banned, however some of the pictures from sites show that there is space available. I am sure the weekends are busy but we don’t stay on sites at the weekend.

We learnt not to camp at weekends on one particular bank holiday weekend. The site has 127 acres of land, the camping fields are huge and there is always plenty of space.

Our pitch on the Thursday afternoon had space all around us with the nearest people about 20m away. We had great views in front of us of a reservoir. By 6pm on friday night we had people pitched within 3m of us, people were fighting to get a pitch at the front of the field overlooking the reservoir. It was horrendous, loud music, screaming and shouting but by 6pm on Monday night the place was empty again.

Anyway I have wandered off the reason for this entry. Planning the new season and trying to avoid the masses. We rarely go to big Club sites unless it is at the beginning or end of the season so our first job is to look for Temporary holiday sites and also independent CL sites, these are affiliated with the Camping & Caravan Club and only have limited pitches.

We were looking for somewhere local initially to get back into practice. Iona has got an MOT, Habitation service pass and a full mechanical service so we are ready but are we prepared after all these months at home?

Sue supplied me with a list of sites along the Lincolnshire coast, they were mainly independently owned sites. I emailed the three I liked the look of to see if they had vacant pitches for the dates we were looking at in April.

We had two campsites get back to us, one was full and the other had room for us. We booked three nights at The Vines campsite at Saltfleetby near Louth, although it is nearer the coast.

So our first trip out in 2021 is planned, it will not be the weather for swimming in the North Sea but there will be plenty of walking along the beach and around the nature reserve.
