Another Travel Year Over

This year we spent 61 nights in the motorhome while away on 16 trips.

This year we visited several new to us sites as well as our normal favourite sites.

We started off in Norfolk at Deepdale Backpackers, Brancaster.

The first new campsite. White Feather at Badby Northamptonshire.

East Yorkshire is a favourite, a long way going over the Humber Bridge and turning towards Spurn Point.

Driftwood at Kilnsea is a small site, the lawn of a bungalow, but very near to Spurn Point.

Then into Lincolnshire for our second new campsite . Bird Song at Burgh le Marsh Lincolnshire.

Our third new to us site was at a village called Cropredy in Oxfordshire. Bridge Meadow was as the name suggests – just a meadow between the river Cherwell and the Oxford canal. It is famous for the Fleetwood Mack Music festival.

We then moved to near Ripon to visit Fountains Abbey. An amazing historic Abbey with a visitor centre and Studely Park. The Hall itself is long gone but the stables are now private accommodation. The campsite was a field within Studley Park.

Our next trip was north of Leeds. The town of Otley where our campsite was on Otley RFC training pitches.

We then headed west of Wolverhampton for our next trip. The destination was Bridgnorth home of The Seven Valley Railway. This was another Temporary Holiday site run by the Camping & Caravan Club. We have been here a few times and ridden the railway down to Bewdley.

Next stop is Leyburn, our furthest north. Another campsite in a field. Plenty of walking around this area.

Back to Derbyshire and the town of Bakewell, famous for the Bakewell Tart. We are camped on the Showground.

We now headed North East to Bridlington and the Yorkshire Yacht Club Regatta Field which is within 100 yards of the beach. Our ninth year here.

Now back to Norfolk and the Heacham Social Club.

Our next trip is to the east coast of Norfolk to Sea Palling and Keith’s Farm.

Bilton Park, Harrogate. This site is walking distance to Knaresborough to the east and Harrogate to the west. You can also walk along the old railway line to Ripley for an ice cream.

Back to Lincolnshire a trip to Skegness for the first time. The site is a holiday park on the outskirts of the town.

Our final trip of the year to another coastal site. This is a new one for us. The Showground Cleethorpes near Grimsby.

And that rounds up Iona’s travels for 2026. The planning for next year is in progress and there will be some new sites to visit. We will start again at the Jolly Sailors in Brancaster to see and hear the Shantymen practice more sea shanty.
