Iona Revisits the Bridge

Trip 10: Pateley Bridge, July ‘24 Our journey to Pateley Bridge took us 3 hours but we managed to miss any big hold ups on the A1, although south bound was a different story. We chose a spot and quickly set up before eating our lunch. After an hour or so of reading we went …

Iona goes to Worcestershire

Trip 9: Oak House Stays, Martley. I made a mistake and did not check the sat nav route that loaded. It took us through Worcester that was not planned, and then a road was closed. However the workmen let us through as they were just changing the last of the ‘cats eyes’ and we were …

Iona goes to the Peaks

Trip 8: Lee Meadow, Middleton Lee Meadow is a farm in the Peak District to the north west of Carsington Water. When we arrived there were only three other units on site and the owner told us where the best place was for a motorhome to park. We have an access track on one side …

Iona goes to the Mount

Trip 7, Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough We took a different route to Scarborough. As recommended by my brother in law. This took us via the motorways , then around Driffield and a B road up to Scarborough, a three hour journey. The campsite on Oliver’s Mount has plenty of room and we chose a space in …

Iona goes to the Avon

Trip 6: Weston Farm. Weston on Avon. We arrived at the site, luckily I had looked on Google Earth to see the layout. We drove onto the meadow, there was only one other van so we chose an area alongside a stream which was slightly hidden from the other motorhome. A view from the motorhome …

Iona goes out on a Limb

Trip 4: Driftwood Campsite, Kilnsea, Spurn Head. I rang the site before we left because there were flood warnings for Kilnsea. John said they were normal and although there are high tides we will be OK. The journey took us over the Humber Bridge but it was not as windy as we expected. Our route …

Iona goes to Beverley

Trip 3: March 2024 Willow Lane campsite, Beverley. Another trip over the Humber bridge, this time stopping at Beverley instead of driving past to Bridlington. The campsite is a 5 pitch site which is now surrounded by modern estate houses. It is basic with water and Elsan point. There is metered electric which we have …

The second part of our 2023 resume takes us from Yorkshire to Norfolk to places we had not visited before. Trip 10: Pateley Bridge Showground.
