Trip 12 ,August 2025, Royal York Yacht Club,Bridlington
The drive took three hours today but it would have been a lot longer if we had not overtaken two wide loads with police escorts. They were going to Immingham so we could have been behind them for 50 miles.
We got a great pitch in the middle of the campsite, near the water and bins. After we got set up we had lunch and then read for a bit before taking a long walk along the beach.

After our walk we read and then for tea we had a curry. An Asda Special meal deal which was really good.

The sun was still out at 19.00 so we took a drink down to the beach to people watch as the tide came in. The first time we used the beach chairs that Sue had bought. Far better than sitting on the sand.

Day 2:
We were up by 8.30am and the sun was out. We sat outside with a coffee before deciding to go to the beach early while the tide had just started to go out.
We took limited kit and were soon sat down. I went for a walk to the sea and carried on walking until I was swimming.
Once I was used to the temperature I waved to Sue and she came and joined me for a few minutes before heading back to our beach chairs. With the tide going out it was getting shallower so I followed Sue back to the beach.

We read until lunchtime and then made our way back to the campsite. When we left the beach the sea had receded a good 300 yards from where we were sat.

The rest of the afternoon was spent sat in the sun reading.
Day 3:
Today was another sunny day and the sea called. After the standard chores we headed for the beach, the tide had just turned to go out. I went in first to test it and it was ok. I went back to report to the boss and we decided to go again.

We spent some time in the sea, the only problem was with the sea going out it kept getting shallower so we kept moving out.
Eventually we headed back to the beach and sat in the sun drying out and reading our kindles. Lunchtime soon arrived and we headed back to Iona.

We had lunch, read our books and chilled until 16.00. We got changed and headed into Bridlington, we had chosen to walk upto the Spa and then head back to the Chippy. However we found a cafe / bar so we stopped for a drink. We were able to get a table on top of the bar where we could watch Bridlington walk by. We had another drink.
It was time to head back towards the Fish & Chip shop for tea. Sue went to the chippy and I went to the shop to buy some beer. We met up with our purchases and headed for the beach.
There was a short detour as a little girl lost her hat to the wind and I went down into the dunes to retrieve it. Apparently her grandmas had already had help getting off the beach so I became the tourist in shining armour? Well I did have my best cap on.
We continued to the beach and found a bit of a sandbank in the sun where we could sit and eat tea and watch a family football match on the beach.
Back to the campsite and half an hour in the sun before we retired to watch a couple of programs on the TV. A brilliant day again, although tiring, roll on tomorrow.
Day 4:
The morning was spent on the beach and we went swimming again. We read our books until lunchtime and then we headed back to the van.
It is our last day so we chilled by the motorhome until the cloud cover increased at about 17.00. It looked like rain but it is not forecast. We took the quest gazebo room down just incase of rain. The wind got up so we took the Windbreak down and headed inside.
We had crispy chicken in wraps for tea. We were going to sit on the beach with a final drink but it had turned quite cool in the wind so we stayed in the van. There was a good sunset but I was not in the best place to take the photo.

We have been coming here every year since 2017 and I cannot see us stopping for a few more years.
Our next trip is to another coastal venue in East Norfolk.
