Trip 5 , April 2025, Jasmin Camping, Sutton on Sea

After quite an easy drive we arrived at Jasmin campsite and we were met by Sian who told us all the details and we picked a site at the end on the row.
It turned out they were not expecting us but luckily I had the email confirmation. We were one of the first people to use a new booking site but something had gone wrong. Anyway we were welcomed and told we could stay as long as we liked.

After lunch which we ate outside on a picnic bench we decided to walk to the beach. However in our normal style we got to the beach and then carried on another mile and a half into Sutton on Sea.

We found a Spar shop with an atm and now loaded with cash we found the Bacchus Hotel, so we called in for a drink and sat in the beer garden enjoying the sun before heading back along the coastal path towards the campsite.
Day 2:
We walked to the beach and we found a spot to have lunch.

On the beach in the dunes there was a seat made of pallets that faced out to sea with a great view. After lunch we walked into Sutton on Sea and did some window shopping.

Selfie time

After some window shopping in the hardware store and the antique shop it was across the road to the Bacchus Hotel for a beer.
We left the Bacchus beer garden and found the Ice Cream parlour on the front. We sat on a bench in the sun and out of the wind to eat the large ices.
Time for a walk along the sea front and back along the tide line until we made our way back upto the prom for a sit down. It was getting cold so we headed for The Dolphin fish & chip shop. We were going to eat on the prom but with the cold wind we ate inside.
Now the long walk back to the campsite, it did seem longer than yesterday but we had been out for 6 hours and by the time we got back to the van we had walked 7 miles.
Day 3:
Another walk today but inland. We followed the Mablethorpe Branch trail until it stopped at a road. We could not see where to go so we retraced our steps to where the trail crossed another lane.
We followed this lane for half a mile looking for a path, the map on the phone was not showing anything. Then a farmer came along in a tele handler and stopped to ask if we were lost.
He gave us directions of a circular route which meant we walked part of the trail three times. The first section followed the lane for 1/2 miles. We passed a farm with an amazing cherry tree in full blossom.

We found the footpath that took us past a chicken farm and followed a drain for about a mile before joining a disused lane which lead us back to the end of the Mablethorpe Branch trail.
We followed the trail again heading home. We found a bench on the trail where we stopped for a coffee and a snack before continuing home.
This short walk ended up as a 6.5 mile walk in the end. We spent the rest of the afternoon around the van, reading and relaxing in case there is another short walk tomorrow.
Day 4:
This morning we left the campsite and join the Sutton Branch line Walkway, the path had been strimmed yesterday so it was much easier to walk along. At the end of the official trail we turned along the lane for half a mile until we came to the main road.

Just before then the farmer we met yesterday drove upto us and stopped. He asked how we got on yesterday after his instructions. We told him it was fine and we were going to Farmer Browns cafe and Ice Cream shop. It turns out it was his farm so he was probably the Farmer Brown.
We followed the road to the farm cafe and we had a chat with a couple who asked if we had walked the trail. That stated a varied conversation about camping etc. I thought we would never get to the Ice Cream, but we made our excuses and got inside to order some ices. We took them outside to eat and Sue bought some cake and sausage rolls before we left for the walk home.

We had a look at the kids playground as we left, there was a tractor, a landrover and a Combine Harvester made out of wood for the kids to play on.
Once back at the campsite we ate lunch outside in the sun before moving inside as it got too cold in the wind. The rest of the afternoon was spent reading before a tea of Chicken wraps and salad.
The four nights here were well worth it and we will be back. The only small issue was that the electric hookup was only 6amps, and I kept blowing the trip because I forgot to turn the electric heating off before using the cooker hob.
