Trip 13, August 2024. Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club , Bridlington.

We arrived at the campsite after a 2.5hr journey and we managed to get a pitch along the fence. It needed ramps but we got fairly level. We decided just to put up the windbreak, but it was harder than anticipated because the ground was stoney and the rock pegs did not all go in fully.
After lunch we walked along the beach and paddled in the sea before returning home and reading in the sun. After tea we walked to the beach and sat in the sand dunes with some wine and watched the sailing boats.

There was also a family with a drone and it was impressive how stable and quiet it was and how far it went out to sea following the sailing boats. It even followed the kids on the beach.

Day 2:
We had a laugh with the steward about the number of texts I had sent her, she had replied but I had blocked her number so I kept asking questions re the booking.

We walked into Bridlington along the prom to the first shops and then came home. Sue did us a pack up and we went onto the beach, found a place in the dunes out of the wind and spent the afternoon reading.
Tea tonight was prawn 🍤 risotto, we ate inside Iona because it had got cold in the wind. We enjoyed the day and tomorrow in may rain so no plans as yet.
Day 3:
It was fine this morning and we went out onto the beach for a walk. It started to rain but we carried on.
After a couple of miles we turned around and headed home. We walked along the water line as the tide came in. I found two balls and Sue found a playmobile toy figure, which looked in good condition apart from no hair, it was dated 1975 on its foot. She is now named Bridget and will stay in the van as a reminder of Bridlington.

We got back to the van and we needed to wash the sand from our legs and shoes ,plus a change of clothes. We had walked just under 5 miles.
The kids next door were with their grandparents and mum had come to pick them up. I gave them the best ball. The other ball was a tennis ball which was a bit worn so I will give that to the next dog walker I see on the beach.
The wind had got up and it was still raining so we stayed inside and read. We kept an eye on the windbreak because it was really facing the wrong way to the wind. It seems fairly stable so I left it up, the forecast is that the wind starts to die down from 16.00,
Day 4:
We got to the beach by 10am and settled down to read our books. I left at about 11am and returned to the van to take the windbreak down, before joining Sue back on the beach. There was a woman with a young Labrador dog who stopped near us to give it some water. I gave her the tennis ball from yesterday, the Labrador, named Rex, seemed very happy with something to chew.

We had lunch on the beach and stayed until about 16.00 before returning to the van. We walked to the fish & chip shop. The queue was small and we soon got served. We took our tea to the beach and sat in the sand dunes to eat tea and watch people on the beach. The Fish & Chips were great and we returned home to finish the day watching master chef, not my choice.
Another great stay in Bridlington we look forward to next year.
