Iona goes to the Yacht Club

Trip 14: Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club Regatta Field, Bridlington.

The drive took us over the Humber Bridge which was quite windy, the journey took about 2.25 hours.

Once we had signed in we were shown a pitch which seemed fairly level although we still used the ramps. We set up the Quest and a windbreak more as protection as the wind was coming in off the sea.

After lunch we walked onto the beach and went paddling towards Fraisborough before heading back to Iona where we sat and read while waiting for the bursts of sunshine.

Tonight we are having Lidl KFC.

Day 2:

This morning was dedicated to watching the England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 ladies play the Australia 🇦🇺 ladies in the World Cup semi final. The Lionesses won 3:1.

We had lunch and read while the sun was out but then the sea mist rolled in and although the sun could be felt the wind kept it cool.

Sea Mist rolls in

This afternoon we walked to the beach and found a sand dune where we sat out of the wind and drank some cider before walking down the beach towards Fraisborough and then back home.

I was cooking tonight on the Cadac. Burgers, sausage and kebabs.

I met the couple next door and asked if they were at Stow on the Wold because I recognised the Quest and wind break. They were there so we had a long conversation about everything and I missed east Enders on the TV.

Hopefully my tummy is better tomorrow. The pain has gone for now.

Day 3:

The sun is out but the wind is coming from the sea so we may get the sea mist again.

After the normal jobs Sue did some sewing, correcting a mistake she made yesterday. I read my kindle until I got bored. We then went down onto the beach and walked to Bridlington before turning around and coming back home.

We had lunch and stayed around the van. It was windy but warm although there was a good covering of clouds but no sea mist today.

Tonight walked to the Fish & Chip shop and then walked back to the beach. We found some shelter in the dunes and ate our tea while watching a very brave family go swimming.

Day 4:

Rain was forecast for tonight and it was very windy this morning so we decided to take the Quest room down along with the windbreak. One or two of our neighbours were also taking their awnings down.

Once the Quest and windbreak were packed away I loaded the chairs and table as well.

We couldn’t stay in the motorhome all day so we went for a walk along the beach, we continued past Fraisthorpe cafe for about a mile and then we turned around to walk back along the sea line. There were plenty of walkers and dogs, a couple of horse riders and a man with a metal detector.

Still overcast

Once we got back to the campsite we had achieved over 10000 steps. So after deducting a bit for working around the campsite we had done roughly 4 miles.

Tonight we had lamb parcels for tea which made a nice change. Tomorrow we head home.

Homeward:

We did well with everything packed away and we were ready to leave by 10.00am. We left our pitch but before we reached the stewards trouble showed up. The passenger airbag light was on and the airbag warning light was also on along with a seat belt warning light.

I stopped and switched off but on starting up again the main airbag warning light stayed on, everything else was ok. Anyway we drove home.

Once at home and unloaded, I checked all the wires under the seats but they were all connected. The only way to now turn off the warning is to send the airbag ecu away to Crash Data for resetting.

The RCU is now removed and packed ready to send off on Monday and then it should be back by Thursday ready for our next trip out. Fingers crossed. 🤞🏻
